How It Started
In 1982, Mark “Woody” Woods started Pride of Iowa in Marengo, Iowa with a straightforward idea: produce pre-packaged sandwiches reliably, at a price that works, and build a reputation that keeps customers coming back. What began as a small operation grew steadily over the years into a wholesale food manufacturer built to handle high-volume orders, without losing sight of that original idea.
Where We Are Today
Today, Pride of Iowa is led by Zack and Mason Woods, who took over the business from their father and have continued building on the foundation laid in 1982.
The operation, now located in Grinnell, Iowa, has grown significantly over the decades and the facility now produces between 200,000 and 300,000 grilled cheese sandwiches per week, with the capacity to scale to whatever each order requires.
Built to Respond
In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains across the country, Pride of Iowa demonstrated what it means to be a nimble manufacturer.
When a large-scale emergency food service contract came through requiring tens of thousands of meals to be produced on short notice, Pride of Iowa was up and running within days.
